But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].
Psalms 1:2-3 AMP
The new man can be likened to a tree . A tree when nourished by the streams of water is very fruitful and survives very well . In a similar manner , when the new man is fed continually with the word of God , he will grow and mature well. As you continue to nurture yourself with the word of God , you will become stronger and more resilient in your Christian walk .
“so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God],”
Ephesians 5:26 AMP
The word of God is able to sanctify you as the water nourishes the tree. The word of God purges you from unwanted behaviours and attitudes . You will begin to notice that certain traits and behaviours begin to change as you continually read and study the word daily .
“For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 AMP
As you study the word of God , you will begin to notice subtle and sudden changes to your life . I remember when I actively began studying the scriptures a few years ago and how many changes began to take place . My mind was renewed regarding so many things , I became more knowledgeable about my salvation and as a result I was able to overcome many temptations that were previously so difficult for me to stay away from . Continue reading and studying and you will be firmly planted !
Amen , may the God bless us with more grace through the word to pursue Him more.
