The New Man ( As a Co- Labourer ) -12

“For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.”

Labour is intensive . It requires many people to accomplish one task . The task of salvation for the entire world is a major task which requires the help of every believer . The Bible says that there is a great harvest but the labourers are few .

“Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!””

We are co-workers with God and not co-equals . A co-worker is one who works with other fellow workers in an institution to accomplish a task . As the body of Christ , we are instructed to labour in this world . Each Christian is given a specific task but the fact remains that we have a good work to accomplish.

“God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

We are also God’s field . He is our gardener and as he wills he places certain seeds and plants in us through his word . He expects us to grow and bring forth good things . We can also think of special gifts , talents and measures of faith given to each of us .

Some people would sow seeds in others , others would water those seeds, some prepare the ground but at the end of the day , God gives the increase. As labourers in God’s field , we should be content with whatever task he gives us as we are working with Him and not as Him.

We are also God’s building . He has the ability to refine and refurbish us. He can break down certain things in our lives and build others to his liking . He is our master architect are buildings under construction . He knows the best plan for us .

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
