The New Man (As a Joint- Heir with Christ )-15

“And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

A heir is someone who receives property or possessions from an ancestor . It is usually inherited by reason of relation or association . We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ . Whatever blessing God has , would be passed to us believers as we are his children . We have an imperishable , unfading and undefiled inheritance pointing to the longevity of the reward . Our inheritance from God is everlasting and cannot be tarnished by anyone or anything .

“[born anew] into an inheritance which is imperishable [beyond the reach of change] and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭AMP‬‬

As a member of a nuclear family , whenever there are hardships , illnesses and trials , I always somehow share in the burdens . When you are part of a family , you somehow share in the happiness as well as the sorrows . It is interesting to note that there is suffering that we also share with as joint heirs of Christ and heirs of God . Many times this is not the favourable part for Christians . We like the spiritual blessing and the inheritance but we do not also embrace the suffering we have to endure . These include sorrows , pains , offenses and persecution. We may be thinking that faith in God exempts us from suffering but it is the opposite . Christ’s death and resurrection does not imply that we would not suffer , rather it equips us to endure suffering . In our suffering, we have hope because we know that our suffering is short and our blessings and inheritance in heaven are eternal .

“Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day. For our momentary, light distress [this passing trouble] is producing for us an eternal weight of glory [a fullness] beyond all measure [surpassing all comparisons, a transcendent splendor and an endless blessedness]! So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There is an eternal hope ! That is what you receive when you are a heir of God and a joint heir with Christ !

Be blessed !
