The Christ in Me by Chisan Halliman-Thompson

Hi everyone! My name is Chisan Halliman-Thompson. I am 26 years old and was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica. I am married and also the mother of a little girl. I cannot say how I met Melissa because she is my younger sister so I have known her all her life. It has been absolutely beautiful and heart-warming though, watching her grow spiritually. All that said, I am elated to have been asked to make such a contribution on this forum.

My life is one that is set apart unto Christ. This simply means that though I am living in this world, I am not conforming to the things of the world. I have come to accept that there are things I cannot do, there are places I cannot go, and there are conversations I cannot have in order to maintain my relationship with Christ.

Matthew 5:16 says ā€œIn the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.ā€(NLT)

My desire is for others (especially the youths) to see Jesus shining through me. 1 Timothy 4:12 also tells me to not let anyone think less of me because I am young but I should be an example to all believers in what I say, in the way I live, in my love , my faith, and in my purity.

I was baptized and started my walk with Lord from the age of nine and it has been one rocky road. I fought hard with proclaiming Christ as my Saviour in my earlier years because I was too worried about what others would think of me. I failed to acknowledge the goodness of my good Father and that caused me to be wayward. I allowed Satan to speak lies into my life and for a while I believed him.

By the grace of God, I was able to overcome such challenges by reading the Word of God. In reading, I began to see who God really is. He revealed Himself to me as the Good Father who loves me in spite of the terrible things I have done. There is nothing that we can do make Him love us less. What sweet consolation that is!
