Hi! I am Celine Palmer and I am from Jamaica. I met Melissa in high school (Campion College ) but I honestly do not remember our first interaction.
For me, being a Christian means living in love and being surrendered to the will of God. Following Christ gives me perspective. When you think about all the things that we go through as human beings: (troubles and trials), I honestly do not know what I would have done or how I would have gotten through everything on my own . Had it not been for God, and the strength that He continues to give me , I do not know how I would have survived . He allows me to respond patiently to life’s circumstances, and I gain peace from resting in His promises. Being a Christian also means that you then get the privilege to share that with the world.
It is challenging being an imperfect girl, seeking to be holy. This means being careful not to react impatiently to someone, and being careful what I feed myself spiritually. As a young Christian, it may be hard not to get caught up in the things of the world, especially as it relates to popular culture. Many things masked as “just being culture” can affect you spiritually and play itself out in different aspects of your life, especially the way you may begin to think. These include the music we listen to and the things we watch on TV. Another challenge I face in my Christian walk is patience but God is such a good God. He always comes through. If it is not in the way we want, it always ends up ultimately being better.
It means a lot knowing that I do not have to worry about being perfect, because His perfection fills in for me. Wherever I fall short, I can leave my shortcomings with Him, and He either takes care of it or gives me the power to. Ultimately, it is all Him. Like people, a lot of us crave love and reassurance a lot, and He provides all of that!
Some of my favourite verses are :
Philippians 1:6 – “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 NKJV
