In light of the COVID 19 pandemic , it was interesting to note how many opinions emerged from numerous healthcare professionals , scientists and even politicians . You can imagine how devastating it is for someone who has the virus and is seeking the most effective intervention . After one probable vaccine emerges, it is met with contraindications and a plethora of alternatives.
Unlike solutions to problems of this world, God’s solution or path is unchanging and direct . In Numbers , God gave a clear sign for the Israelites to follow as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night .
“Now if you destroy them, the Egyptians will send a report to the inhabitants of this land, who have already heard that you live among your people. They know, Lord, that you have appeared to your people face to face and that your pillar of cloud hovers over them. They know that you go before them in the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.”
Numbers 14:14 NLT
The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night was a reminder to the people of Israel that God was with them . The cloud served as direction for the people . Wherever the cloud moved, the people of Israel would have moved . The Israelites would then respond by obeying . To have the presence of God with us is linked to our obedience . The pillar of cloud was with the Israelites so long as they obeyed or followed God’s leading .
In a similar way , Jesus Christ functions as our light and way . He is our pillar of cloud . The presence of Jesus Christ in our lives leads us to God.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 NIV
Just as the Israelites followed the cloud , following Jesus Christ is the way to eternal life with God . It is not your opinions , acts of charity or seemingly good works that will lead us to God . Jesus Christ is our cloud . He is our hope to see God .
“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Colossians 1:27 NIV
Be blessed !
Truly , it’s just the presence of God in our lives that makes the different.
God bless you!
