Day 6 – My Jesus Journal – The Commander of the Lord’s Army

“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭5:13-15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Joshua met a supernatural being when he was by Jericho who was none other than the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ . He (Jesus Christ ) answered by saying that he is the captain of the Lord’s host . Joshua was already advised in Joshua 1:7-8 that he was to act on faith to the Lord’s person , promises and provisions . Joshua had good success because he was obedient to the word of the Lord . The same captain of the Lord’s host is the same captain of our salvation .

“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus Christ is the captain of our salvation because he being perfect , without sin and obedient through his suffering , was the perfect sacrifice for you and me .

Today we have salvation because the suffering of Jesus Christ led to our redemption from sins ! We now have a heavenly and eternal glory , not by anything we have done , but by the grace of God ! We are now his sons and daughters !
