I never knew the importance of bread until a shortage of certain goods was declared in Jamaica . People could be seen scurrying to get their hands on at least one loaf of bread . It appeared that bread was an essential part of Jamaican household. We were redirected to many alternative shops and supermarkets all just in pursuit of bread .
“Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.”
Ruth 1:6 KJV
In the book of Ruth , after the famine in Bethlehem , God visited them with bread . Bread signifies food or provision which the people of Bethlehem greatly needed . The reference to bread point to the coming of Jesus Christ who is the Bread of Life . The sustaining bread that fills all those who are hungry for it.
Many times in life we think that we will be satisfied with the most prestigious job , a life of luxury and wealth but we are never truly happy until we taste the bread of life who is Jesus Christ.
“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
John 6:35 KJV
In saying He is the bread of life , Jesus Christ is explaining that people must partake of Him if they want the hunger of their souls to be satisfied . The provisions of this world only leads us on a journey where our insatiable desires to have them will never truly be filled . Jesus Christ did not just come to offer bread but he came to be bread for all who are hungry. After having this bread , I assure you you will never be hungry again . Your soul will be satisfied !
Be blessed !
Hallelujah! Glory to God!
