Humanity tends to look for highfalutin statements to make a point look more serious than it actually is . This is all in the name of wisdom . It is the trap and deception that leads many people astray. Solomon asked for wisdom from God to lead His people .
“So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
1 Kings 3:9 NIV
Solomon’s cry for wisdom is what we need in our lives and in our world . We all somehow spontaneously conjure up ways and solutions to life’s problems. These ‘solutions’ when tried proves futile simply because it is our wisdom and not wisdom from God .
I remember listening to friends and their solution to my problems . It would always be hinged on their past experiences and would never really work for me . I was given silly advice on how to dress , how to be attractive to boys , which boys to love , steps to be popular and how to make money . It was not until I relied on the wisdom of God that I started seeing genuine results .
The world’s wisdom is to get rich quick but God’s wisdom is Matthew 6:33 . The world’s wisdom is to have sex before marriage because of the ‘love’ for boyfriends or girlfriends but God’s wisdom is Ephesians 5:3 . The world’s wisdom is that we only live once but God’s wisdom is Jesus Christ, who not only gives of life , but everlasting life .
“but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:24 NIV
The wisdom of God ultimately points to Jesus Christ . Let that sink in . The wisdom of God points to a person , not any other seemingly ‘wise’ statement . James 3:17 shows what the wisdom of God looks like . This points to Jesus Christ !
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
James 3:17 NIV
James 1:5 says if you lack wisdom , ask for it , God will give it to you !
