Day 16 – My Jesus Journal – The Sufferer

The average person does not like pain . The average person does not like suffering . People most times look for a way out of pain and suffering . Have you ever suffered or endured a very difficult situation or trying season ? I know you thought that you would never make it through . The suffering of Job is of utmost importance when I think of pain . We look at Job’s suffering and it closely mirrors what you or I have gone through in our lives . Job’s suffering was so severe that even his physical appearance was unrecognizable .

“When they looked from a distance and did not recognize him [because of his disfigurement], they raised their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe [in grief] and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky [in sorrow].”
‭‭Job‬ ‭2:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Christ’s suffering was unparalleled. Many people were surprised as his appearance was disfigured and appalling . This reference to Jesus Christ on the cross was a manifestation of something undeserved , yet he endured it . He was wounded to the point where he was unrecognizable . Jesus was led like a lamb to the slaughter so that today you and I can endure the salvation that we have .

Just as many were astonished and appalled at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form [marred] more than the sons of men.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭52:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The first time I gave my life to Christ in 2008, I was quite young but what really convicted me was the Pastor’s description of what Christ had to endure just so that I could be saved . I remember weeping hysterically at the altar as my mind conjured up what Christ had to endure just for me . I felt that love so much that I decided that living a life for Jesus Christ is the the absolute least I could do to express my sincere gratitude .

How are you expressing your gratitude for what Christ has done for you ?

Be blessed !
