I never understood the concept of the ‘Holy Spirit’ . Growing up and seeing the manifestations of the Holy Spirit led me to think that the older and seemingly more mature folks in church would have this powerful gift . The manifestations of the spirit of God would always spark my interest however dull the service was for me on a Sunday morning . I thought the Holy Spirit would go looking for a specific group of people. When I was taught about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and when I actually received the baptism of the Holy Spirit , that is when my life changed .
“It shall come about after this That I shall pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”
Joel 2:28-29 AMP
God spoke through His prophet Joel that he would pour out His Holy Spirit on all humanity and that includes faithful believers. The evidence of it would be dreams and visions given to God’s people . God’s divine plan would be made known . Without the manifestation of the spirit , we lead lifeless and dull lives that is not cognizant of what God’s plan is .
“As for me, I baptize you with water because of [your] repentance [that is, because you are willing to change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret your sin and live a changed life], but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment).”
Matthew 3:11 AMP
John the Baptist introduced Jesus Christ as one who would baptize us with the Holy Ghost and with fire. As a result of this powerful baptism , we would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit from God . The convicting power of the Holy Spirit gives us life from our dead state in sin, changes us and causes us to obey the instructions of God’s plan to witness and to live a godly and holy life. The fire burns away evil and unwanted things from our lives . By the power of the baptism with the Holy Spirit and with fire , we can experience a great change in our lives .
Believe in the the power of God through Jesus Christ ! Your life will never be the same .
