Day 31- My Jesus Journal – One from Bethlehem

Whenever I have the chance to meet someone from any country of the world , I usually playfully ask that we engage in casual conversation so that I would guess which country they are from . More often than not , I guess correctly because of their distinct accent or pronounced mannerisms . It taught me that there is a correlation between who you are and where you are from . Micah declared that Jesus Christ would come from Bethlehem , which is quite significant if you are looking at Jesus . Bethlehem in its Hebrew translation means House of Bread and it is no surprise when Jesus says that he is the ultimate bread of life.

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah; From you One shall come forth for Me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel, His goings forth (appearances) are from long ago, From ancient days.”
‭‭Micah‬ ‭5:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Bread is a gift from God: when Moses fed the people in the desert with food which fell from heaven, and during the last supper, when bread became the body of Christ. When Jesus multiplied the bread to feed the crowd, bread became a sign of sharing and an expression of love. It also symbolised the Word of God which nourished the crowds.

At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?” – John 6:41-42

When Jesus spoke and introduced himself as the bread from heaven meaning the gift of God , the Jews did not give a second of thought to what He meant . They began undermining and doubting His significant existence . For us today , Jesus is telling us that He is the bread from heaven sent to us . We are not only expected to eat of this bread but to share the bread and that is the gospel of Jesus to everyone ! If Jesus multiplied bread to feed the crowd then He being the ultimate bread is enough for you , me , and the whole world ! There is even enough of Jesus to spare !
