Day 41 – My Jesus Journal – The Beloved Son

If you want to do anything in this world , there is a prerequisite or a requirement that is expected . Many times , we get that desired job and that position we have been dreaming of after all the prerequisites are met . There is no shorthand to anything great in life . There is a process and only some manage to go through the entire thing .

After Jesus was baptized, He came up immediately out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he (John) saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him (Jesus), and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased and delighted!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Immediately after Jesus is baptized , God confirms his presence through his approval . We see the manifestation of the Spirit of God and we would later see the manifestation in Jesus’ life and ministry . If we want to have an approved life or ministry, we should crave the manifestation of the Holy Spirit . The Spirit of God serves as the prerequisite for being a beloved son of God . You may be asking how can I be a son of God , but the answer comes from Romans 8:14,

“For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The Spirit leads and thus we become the sons of God . Our sonship is linked to how ready we are to be led by the spirit of God . That is a process that has no shorthand path to it . We can be led by our earthly accomplishments or whatever else tickles our fancy but to be approved by God, there should be a manifestation of His spirit .

After this encounter in Mathew 3, a loud voice proclaims that Jesus is the son of God and we are assured that God is pleased with him . Jesus’ baptism plays a significant role in affirming Jesus’ sonship.

Be blessed !
