Day 43- My Jesus Journal – The Light

I had a friend who explained to me that in his country he had a period where they experience something called load-shedding . This is the deliberate shutdown of electric power in a part or parts of a power-distribution system, generally to prevent the failure of the entire system when the demand strains the capacity of the system. I asked about how they would prepare for such instances but there was no doubt that life was not business as usual when light was out . It was way harder than when the lights were on .

Without light , life is not good . You can see why God commanded light in Genesis 1:3 then said it was good . When heaven and earth were created , it was not until light came that it became good .

When Jesus came , that is when light came to people who continued to live in darkness . You cannot live a fulfilling life in darkness that is why you cannot do anything when there is darkness all around . You spend most of your time struggling to walk around in a dark nothingness . You stumble , you misjudge where things are and you have a much more difficult time finding your way around things .

If you look at everything bad happening in our world today , it all stems from darkness in one way or another . The presence of sin is the presence of darkness . The light of Jesus however , illuminates our lives and gives a good meaning to our lives .

How then do we live our lives void of darkness? We do that by seeing the great light of Jesus Christ and following him . The light illuminates the darkness in your life and begins to shine in and all around you . Before you know it , you would become a candle for him shining brilliantly to light up other places that are in darkness .

Be blessed!

  1. Hi Melissa! Thanks for stopping by my blog! So glad I found your beautiful site! I love it and I love how you write. Simple truth without all the words. Your tagline “A small girl with a big God” sent shivers down my arms. So good. So true. May the Lord continue to inspire you sweet girl!

  2. Awesome to read others showing their love for Jesus. Glad I came across your blog, and it was a joy to read. To this day I often sing within my heart a song I learnt as a child:
    This little light of mine
    I’m gonna let it shine
    This Little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

    Praise be to God❤️
