Do you believe that with Jesus there is abundance in your life? I know you may think that it is found in that new promotion or that new significant other or just a general change in a difficult situation . All these things are great but we are always tempted to forget about God and following Jesus and merely focus on our blessings. I pray that we may not be in that category of people who forget .
“If you start thinking to yourselves, “I did all this. And all by myself. I’m rich. It’s all mine!”—well, think again. Remember that GOD, your God, gave you the strength to produce all this wealth so as to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors—as it is today.”
Deuteronomy 8:17-18 MSG
I always feel so happy when I am blessed financially and I think of how God provided in many other instances in my life. After receiving money , I make sure I remember to thank God and also to give back to God through my tithes and offering and any other act that builds His kingdom . I have watched how God has multiplied whatever amount I have as I remember him , not once or twice . Again , do not be in a habit of just receiving from God but develop a habit of remembering Him even in your blessings . Do not ever think it is all yours and forget who gave it to you .
A friend once sent a WhatsApp voice note to me of a newly wedded young man who was advising a group of young men . He said that living from paycheck to paycheck gets him nowhere . He explained how it was really the blessings of God and the favour of God through association brought him much of what he has today. He mentioned how he really just relied on God , not in himself to get wealth !
True abundance is Jesus Christ . That is your source of riches . Do not give up your source for the riches or blessings . A source is a source for a reason . Devote yourself to the source and without even giving an iota of thought to certain blessings , you will walk in them , just by reason of being close to the source . Associate yourself with Jesus , not with what you have .
“Walking along the beach of Lake Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers: Simon (later called Peter) and Andrew. They were fishing, throwing their nets into the lake. It was their regular work. Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.” They didn’t ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed.”
Matthew 4:18-20 MSG
Peter and Andrew understood who Jesus is and they did not think it was a difficult decision to leave their blessings behind to follow the source of their blessings . Again , choose to associate yourself more with the source of abundance and not with what you perceive to be abundance . If Peter and Andrew had followed their regular work and said they could not follow Jesus or even give much thought to Jesus , do you think that we would even be blessed by their interactions with Jesus today as disciples ? You just think about that ! True abundance is in Jesus Christ !
Be blessed !
In Him we are truly rich.
