Day 45 – My Jesus Journal – Abundance 2

There is abundance in no other person than Jesus . When we understand this principle it becomes easier to follow Jesus and not what you can see happening in your life . Jesus went and saw James and John as brothers fixing their nets . When Jesus called them to be made fishers of men , they immediately ( Greek euthēos, “at once , soon”) left their business and father to accept His call.

“A short distance down the beach they came upon another pair of brothers, James and John, Zebedee’s sons. These two were sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, mending their fishnets. Jesus made the same offer to them, and they were just as quick to follow, abandoning boat and father.”

James and John understood that there is abundance in Jesus Christ . They knew that they could have a greater life with Jesus Christ and so they even left their father Zebedee in pursuit of Jesus . Now I know many of us would not instantaneously leave our parents in pursuit of following Jesus . We would begin to consider all that is stake . James and John understood that it took even leaving family to follow Jesus . The Bible tells us what the cost is to follow Christ but are you still willing to follow ?
