Day 53- My Jesus Journal- A Lesson On Persecution

“Blessed [comforted by inner peace and God’s love] are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever]. “Blessed [morally courageous and spiritually alive with life-joy in God’s goodness] are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil things against you because of [your association with] Me. Be glad and exceedingly joyful, for your reward in heaven is great [absolutely inexhaustible]; for in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

We will all be persecuted for reason or another . We will all be ridiculed for one reason or another but we ultimately decide which ones we will pay attention to and which ones we will reject . Being persecuted for Jesus is hard but it is a great blessing and there is a great reward for us . I often think about moments when I would be excused from some meetings or spoken of in an odd way because of my belief in Jesus Christ . The truth is that we would all have something that is on the hearts and in the mouths of others around us but to be insulted for Jesus is not a bad thing at all .

What will we do then when we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake ? Will we sit back and behave as if we do not believe anymore or will we be assured that there is a great reward for us in heaven ?

We are told to rejoice ! Throw a party and have a laugh and be exceedingly glad without reservation ! Rejoice knowing that your reward surpasses anything that anyone can say ! Rejoice knowing that others have been persecuted too but have overcome ! Rejoice knowing that you are blessed despite anything that anyone has said !

Rejoice ! Rejoice ! Rejoice in the face of persecution !
