Day 61 – My Jesus Journal – The Willing Healer

Welcome back to another Minute with Melissa . We’re at Day 61 in my Jesus Journal – The Willing Healer.

“A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:2-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As a medical professional, and in light of the Covid pandemic , it has arguably been one of the most difficult times to interact with patients. Professionals would prefer or opt not to treat Covid infected individuals in as much as they took an oath for service to others . In the same way, leprosy in this context was a disease to be scorned and persons who were ‘leprous’ would be isolated and left for dead .

Jesus’ response to this leper was nothing short of amazing . Jesus was not moved by the leper or showed any signs of scorn or unwillingness to reach out to him.

Jesus could have opted to keep walking or ignore this leper’s request . Instead, He boldly stated that He was willing to help him . Jesus Christ is willing to make you clean too . If He was willing to cleanse that leper , He can certainly do the same for you .

Jesus instructed the leper ( after he had received his healing) to go and give a gift to the priest as a testimony to what had been done in his life . Note how Jesus commanded him to not say anything , but rather to do something . It is apparent that what the leper had to do was more important than what he could have possibly said . It is not always what you say that is a testimony but what you do that speaks of what has been done in your life .

Jesus also expects that after you have been healed, you do something as a testimony to what has been done in your life. Many times people choose to live their lives as if nothing had been done, as if they forgot all that God had previously given them . Your testimony is not in word only, but also in deed .

Be blessed !
