“As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him [for help], and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, with intense and terrible, tormenting pain.” Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied to Him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man subject to authority [of a higher rank], with soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following Him, “I tell you truthfully, I have not found such great faith [as this] with anyone in Israel.”
Matthew 8:5-10 AMP
There are many things that we want to see happen in our lives . We want a job promotion , we want healings and miracles to happen in our families, and we want all our deepest desires to be fulfilled. We want so much, but sometimes we just admit that certain things are just bigger than us , based on all that we can physically see. Instead of believing that God will do something for us , we rather complain about all that is wrong and not spend a minute to ask God about what we want, and truly believe that He would do it . The question is , ‘How great is your faith ?’
The centurion understood who Jesus was and got straight to the point . He knew that if he believed and boldly asked Him in faith , then the paralyzed servant would be healed . From a medical point of view, paralysis, (loss of strength in and control over a muscle or group of muscles in a part of the body) is a great problem . This centurion somehow knew that there was a man who was bigger than this problem. The faith of the centurion was so great that he did not require some prescription from a doctor or that Jesus go to where the servant was staying. He just believed that a word spoken would be enough .
This is the great faith that Jesus spoke about . It is this faith that moved Him to amazement .The undoubting , unrelenting faith that He is and that He can do it, despite not physically being there and even though the prognosis may seem poor.
I would want to agree with you that your problems are great, but your faith can be greater !
Be blessed !
Plain, simple truth. He is and He can!
