Day 70- My Jesus Journal- The Parable Of The Mustard Seed

“He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:31-32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

One thing that is never striking about a large tree, is how small a seed it once must have been . One is always drawn to the colourful fruits , leaves, and maybe even the intricate composition of the bark . Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to that small mustard seed . Every effort towards the kingdom of heaven seems menial at first but as time passes the growth is evident .

I always marvel at stories of normal individuals who decided to live their lives to please God . At first , they look so unassuming , nonchalant and sometimes even disinterested in the things of God . It is always amazing to see how believing in Jesus, a little consistent quiet time , a little consistent prayer and the mighty working of the Holy Spirit can transform one who was dead in trespasses and sins to one who is zealously souled out for Christ. That is the nature of the kingdom of heaven as it like the smallest seed that transforms into the greatest tree in the garden.

Jesus Christ , came to us from a stable . Imagine being born in the presence of animals and possibly their dung . It was far from a comfortable room with fancy equipment and paparazzi everywhere . I mean this is not the entrance that we would expect from who would soon be known as the saviour of the whole world . No one would ever think that he would be the greatest leader , king and ultimate saviour of all humanity . His humble beginning was in no way a precursor to the profound influence that he would have on all humanity . Though he was born in a manger , he was and is the greatest of all time and to this day , billions of people around the world are perching from His branches !

Through the power of Jesus Christ , the smallest seed can become the greatest tree !

Be blessed !
